Unity CIRCUS, an organization dedicated to nurturing and promoting youth talent while spreading messages of peace in society, in collaboration with Rwanda Youth Clubs for Peace Organization (RYCLUPO), joined residents of Rubavu District in the end-of-March 2026 Umuganda.
RYCLUPO focuses on empowering young people in Rwanda to become active peacebuilders within their communities.
The community work took place in Bushengo I Village, Gikombe Cell, Rubavu Sector, where participants rehabilitated a damaged road. The activity aimed to improve mobility and enhance the safety of residents in their daily activities.
Karangwa Jean, a resident living near the road, welcomed the initiative and expressed his appreciation.
“I thank those who thought of helping us repair this road, which was no longer passable. It will now make movement easier within the village and improve security, as those who used to hide along this road will no longer find it convenient,” he said.
The Director of Unity CIRCUS, Nshuti Emmanuel, said the activity was organized to strengthen confidence in the future through the active involvement of young people.
“We organized this Umuganda to reinforce our belief in a better future, driven by the efforts of youth. This road, particularly because of its steep slope, made movement difficult. That is why we decided to come together and improve it,” he explained.
Ladislas Yassin Nkundabanyanga, a RYCLUPO coordinator, noted that their participation was part of the “GOOD DEEDS DAY” initiative, which encourages people, especially young people, to engage in positive actions.
“We are pleased to join the organizers and residents in this meaningful activity. Through our project, we promote a culture of doing good from an early age. The road we worked on will ease movement and strengthen community interaction. We are proud to contribute to building our country,” he said.
The Executive Secretary of Rubavu Sector, Rwibasira Jean Bosco, commended the organizations for working alongside residents and contributing to local development.
“It is encouraging to see such support in activities that improve the lives of our citizens. Nation-building is a shared responsibility, and we will continue to work together in development efforts. This road will ease movement, and we urge residents to maintain it,” he said.
He also praised the youth who participated, noting that they represent a strong example of how values of responsibility and community service can be instilled from an early age.
